Persons in the IT Manager IV classification manage other technical staff that perform programming tasks or install, maintain, and trouble-shoot desktop, server, applications, or communications/voice communications equipment and software. They work with a great deal of independence in the performance of their duties.

Essential Functions

Develop partnerships with key customers to identify what drives their business, understand the customers needs, and identify what data warehouse and reporting solutions can support the services they provide. Develop procedures and metrics for each data warehouse and reporting service provided by the team to ensure they are meeting the performance expectations, and to identify areas for improvement. Monitor these procedures and metrics for appropriateness and ensuring expected service levels are maintained. Function as the chief architect of the data warehousing and enterprise reporting services provided by OIT. Direct IT teams in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning, and application database support and enhancement practices. Provide scope guidance and work prioritization on staff assignments, paying strong attention to business requirements and deadlines. Develop, promote, and utilize standards for Enterprise tools, system operation, development, and project management, which accommodate changing business priorities. Monitor application modification requests and proposed solutions to ensure best practices are being utilized. Evaluate employee performance, and provide for development and training of staff.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and ten years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. six years of supervisory experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments. Ability to supervise and train subordinates. Strong understanding of project management disciplines. Ability to provide scope and prioritization on work assignments, paying strong attention to detail and deadlines Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. 10+ years of IT and business work experience including managing teams in large scale data warehousing, report design and distribution, database administration, change management, programming functions in a combination of: 5+ years of large scale data warehouse design and management, 3+ years of production experience with Oracle EPM and OBIEE+ preferably in a PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment. Strong understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and project management disciplines. Possess strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel), excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills, and an ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization. Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field. Certifications in supported technologies.
