Additional Information


Assist faculty members, principal investigators, graduate students and research staff in the preparation and submission of research proposals with sponsoring agencies and organizations.

Essential Functions

Work with faculty, staff members, and graduate students from various departments and organized research units in neuroscience to develop and prepare proposals for submission to prospective Federal and State agencies, as well as various private foundations. Coordinate with Office of Sponsored Projects for submission, review and final approval. Work with accounting staff on issues of compliance for various types of funding. Assist with development of administrative procedures to comply with regulations affecting governmental and private research grants and contracts. Develop annual reports on grant funding for Director, pre-certifier for effort certification reports and preparation of cost-sharing reports when appropriate. Prepare and negotiate subcontract documents with provider organizations. Coordinate review and final approval process for specific proposals prior to submission to the sponsors.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or a business or technical scientific field. Five years of experience in the preparation, processing, and negotiation of grant and contract proposals and awards. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of complex administrative experience and or grant or contract preparation and processing experience may be substituted for one year of education for a total of 9 years of experience. Familiarity with University policies and procedures. Experience working with NIH, Cayuse, RMS and knowledge of DEFINE. Demonstrated ability to work under stress with time sensitive conditions and with a diverse group of people. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a team player.
