This position will serve primarily as a Windows systems administrator to install, configure, and operate servers and applications supporting the campus building security systems. This position will also share some responsibility for managing Linux and AIX servers, as well as some limited programming and scripting.
Administer Windows servers for the building security system, including installation and maintenance of operating system, physical hardware, and commonly used services such as patching, backup, firewall and terminal servers. Share responsibilities for Linux and AIX servers with 2 other sys admins to maintain the operating system, physical hardware, and commonly used services such as patching, backup, firewall, web and database servers. Work with vendors and technicians to support, integrate, and test building access control applications. This task involves installing, testing, and troubleshooting the application and its required components, such as SQL server and Domain Controllers. Develop and document procedures to integrate Windows servers with central campus services such as WDS, WSUS and Active Directory. Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for production services.

Three years of professional experience in Windows server administration and support. Three years of experience supporting Windows servers in an Active Directory environment and/or managing domain controllers. Proficiency in Linux and/or AIX server administration to support web and database servers. Solid understanding of network fundamentals, such as TCP/IP, OSI layers, IP addresses and subnets, network firewalls and proxies. Demonstrated ability to work independently and without day-to-day supervision on highly varied technical tasks with changing priorities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or five years of equivalent professional experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Three years of professional experience in Linux and/or AIX server administration. Three years of experience administering virtualized environments for servers, particularly in VMware. Proficiency in Windows scripting or cross-platform scripting languages such as Perl and Python. Experience with system monitoring, performance turning, change management processes and network security. Experience working with building access control and video surveillance applications.
