This position works closely with the Assistant VP in preparing the annual operating budget, the Legislative Appropriation Request, and all other budget reporting required. This position supervises the Budget Office staff and reviews and directs their work.

Essential Functions

Work closely with the Assistant VP in preparing the annual operating budget and numerous related summary reports. Works closely with the Assistant VP in preparing the biennium Legislative Appropriation Requests. Prepares LBB tuition and fees reports, estimates budget tuition and other income estimates, prepares various budget reports, variance analysis, the ABEST/USAS quarterly reconciliation. Supervises and reviews the work of the Budget Office staff and oversees daily budget office operations as necessary.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting with 10 years work experience as a professional accountant. Ability to plan, conceptualize and make sound business decisions. Strong planning and project managements skills. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. 2 years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in governmental accounting, preferably higher education budgeting and accounting. Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and/or Hyperion Budgeting and Planning. Knowledge of GAAP and state and federal regulations related to budget and accounting. Masters in Accounting or CPA with ten years or more of governmental or fund accounting with five years of public higher education experience. Management and supervisory experience. Knowledge of DEFINE and/or PeopleSoft FMS and HCM systems. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
