Provides administrative support to department faculty or administrator requiring the use of initiative and independent judgement and to coordinate the office management activities of the assigned organizational unit.
Translate instructions from administrative and technical superiors to subordinates. Operate and/or supervise data entry and retrieval, including purchase requisitions, payment vouchers, travel requests and reimbursements, and departmental payroll processing. Coordinate hiring process for unit?s clerical and secretarial applicants; interview, make hiring recommendations, verify accuracy of personnel information, review DEFINE appointments. Monitor all personnel and payroll transactions including appointments, promotions, salary increases, separations, and fund source changes. Maintain department faculty and staff personnel files including weekly time reports, leave adjustments and time and effort reports for conformity to university policies and procedures. Train, monitor and evaluate office personnel. Review incoming correspondence and as directed, will compose, write, proofread, and edit unit?s outgoing correspondence, memos, letters, reports, and manuscripts. Assist in preparation of the unit?s fiscal year operating budget according to university guidelines, and monitor expenditures and/or income against the budget.

Bachelor's degree and three years of office experience. Proficiency using computers and office software packages. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
A major related to the endeavor of the department or work experience in the same or similar office, and more than three years of office experience. DEFINE experience. PeopleSoft experience.
