Must be able to analyze curriculum and degree requirements and determine deficits to degree completion; should be able to work with little supervision; must be proficient in recording-keeping software; some travel may be needed for travel to development workshops; some availability may be needed after hours/on weekends during peak advising periods, orientation, and preview days.
Maintains electronic advisement reports as well as campus curriculum and degree requirements in a variety of formats; assists in maintaining TSI compliance; coordinates dept. reporting of assessment and retention plans; serves on university committees as needed.
With guidance from the departmental functional lead, performs routine updates for the Patriot Advisement Report (PAR); makes timely notifications and assists with training campus advisors on PAR updates or changes; assists the UT Tyler community in general in utilizing the PeopleSoft system and attends classes on system upgrades. Creates and monitors undergraduate degree plans; updates degree plans in a variety of formats (website, PeopleSoft, etc.) when changed by academic departments; verifies student records reflect appropriate degree requirements; serve on curriculum committees as needed. Utilizes PeopleSoft to update and manage academic records for TSI compliance and/or violation status; monitors individual students for TSI compliance and makes notifications of non-compliance cases for inclusion in CBM002 reporting; accurately evaluates, interprets and articulates info on institutional rules and regulations to students, faculty and administrators. Compiles departmental data to prepare, maintain and report program outcomes for assessment plans; provides guidance on the collection and entry of appropriate and effective data into tracking software; assist with evaluation of program effectiveness through data analysis.
Periodic evening and weekend availability will be required in order to assist with orientation, Patriot Preview days and other student-related activities. Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience working in a student support area or an academic advising capacity. One or more years of extensive data analysis experience. One or more years of curriculum management, academic advising, degree planning, or other relevant experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master's degree in a related field and three years working in a student support area or an academic advising capacity.
