Purpose of position plans and directs accounting activites within central administration departments.
Performs Accountant III duties such as assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems and accounting controls; conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the University's accounting operation; collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns; prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues;assists in the collection of and preparation of external audit materials and financial reporting. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll. Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports. Participates in the preparation of the Budget, and Legislative Appropriation Request. Assists with various special projects as needed. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems. Complies with all State and University policies.
Other related functions as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Accounting from four-year College or University. Four years of professional payroll governmental or commercial accounting experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
