To participate in the planning and conveyance of academic advising services and programs that promote comprehensive educational opportunities for all students. Cooperates with faculty by providing quality assistance for all academic advising needs of individuals or groups of students.

Essential Functions

Advise students individually and in groups about the development of educational options and the resources available. Works closely with other academic advisors and counselors in order to provide timely information on course/degree options and University policies. Make appropriate referrals. Performs related duties as required. Monitor retention programs and make appropriate reports. Assist in registration, verify student prerequisite and requirements. Participation in professional conference and individual professional development will be required. Work on both individual and group projects/committees throughout the year to ensure the quality of the programs offered for department, university, and NASAD standards.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Will include usual office conditions with some evening and weekend work. Involvement in professional development activities and participation in student affairs which include travel. Other functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 1 to 4 years experience working with college students or adolescents in an academic counseling capacity. Preferred Qualifications

Art Degree. Customer service skills, including substantial experience. Personal computer and related equipment experience. Accuracy in evaluating and articulating information on students to faculty and administrators and in interpreting institutional rules and regulations and other information.
