Purpose

This position is part of the senior leadership team and contributes to the vision and strategic planning for the Career Center. The position is expected to function as a team member within The Career Center and the Division of Student Affairs, and will assist with other career and student related events as needed.

Essential Functions

Developing, implementing, assessing, and growing a University-wide, academic internship program for students. Developing marketing and promotion strategies for the internship program. Cultivate and build relationships with employers in order to generate internship and experiential learning opportunities by working with supervisors, executives and human resources contacts, including site visits. Collaborate with University personnel including academic advisors, faculty, and University administrators plus other stakeholders. Lead and serve on various division and university committees. Create and facilitate internship orientations and workshops; present internship information to classes and student organizations; maintain records of student experiences. Prepare reports; collect data for analysis, evaluation, and program improvement. Utilize the Career Center jobs database for posting internship positions; and assist students individually and in groups with finding appropriate internship opportunities.Researching and understanding the latest trends in the job market and in experiential education.

Required qualifications

Master's degree. Minimum of three years experience working in a full-time, professional position in a higher education career services environment or a corporate recruiting environment. Experience supervising multiple staff within a higher education or corporate environment. Experience working with internships or employer relations in a higher education or corporate environment preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail. Experience using database software. Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong analytical, decision making, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated leadership and management skills. The ability to work independently and to multitask is expected.
