Monday thru Friday work week, 9:00 am 6:00 pm shift. Overtime may be required with little or no advance notice. Travel may be required annually for training. Hiring decision contingent upon applicant clearing a security background check and receiving an acceptable driver's rating.
Responsible for inspection, preventive maintenance and repair of custodial equipment and appliances.
Inspect and repair a variety of custodial equipment and appliances. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions. Check parts for proper functioning. Check parts for wear and replace parts. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble parts and equipment. Conduct operational testing of repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning. Assist in maintaining parts and equipment inventory. Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures according to PM task list and schedule, at equipment location when possible and necessary. Follow manufacturers, and Custodial Services procedures in servicing equipment and appliances. Read and follow instructions on maintenance schedules. Provide feedback to supervisor on issues. Meet deadlines and perform complete and error free work. Effectively communicate with supervisors, clients, and employees. Be able to understand and carry out detailed but not complicated written or oral instructions. Responsible for security and organization of university keys, access cards, and alarm codes. Perform basic math skills and use office automation systems such as personal computers and calculators. Check FAMIS workbench, enter labor and complete and close work orders in FAMIS. Pick up and deliver equipment and appliances as necessary. Provide support as material handler for the Custodial Services Division in moving and transporting equipment, boxes, or furniture. Promote and follow safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions. Report safety problems. Drive university vehicles.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Other related functions as assigned.
High School graduation or GED. Four years of equipment maintenance and repair experience. Ability to read, understand memorandums, letters, and written work materials such as work orders and equipment electrical/mechanical schematics. Ability to speak to individuals and groups of people. Ability to communicate via two way radios. Experience working with personal computers and Microsoft Office software. Experience providing good customer service skills. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Associate degree or higher, or technical school degree/certificate in applicable field. Five (5) years or more experience in equipment maintenance and repair. Excellent and proven communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills. Advanced proven computer skills. Successful completion of the Campus Planning and Facilities Management Leader Development program.
