This position will require administering, analyzing and implementing the Colony Park Public Engagement plan including data collection, surveys and public forums. Results of the community engagement and community input will be published and provided to the commmunity, city and stakeholders.
In consultation with City of Austin (COA) and Colony Park Neighborhood Association (CPNA) develop and write a comprehensive survey instrument to determine community needs, challenges, desires and other factors deemed critical to Colony Park/ Lakeside and surrounding neighborhoods. In consultation with COA and CPNA,train undergraduate students in necessary survey skills, information gathering and analysis to successfully implement the survey in Colony Park/Lakeside sustainable grant geographic area. Work with COA and CPNA to complete community input through forums and meetings Analyze and write final summary of survey results and engagement activities to be published, distributed and discussed with the City of Austin, Colony Park Neighborhood Association, and residents and stakeholders. Attend meetings as needed with designated City of Austin staff, Colony Park Neighborhood Association, project design team, residents and stakeholders to discuss project status, progress and activities. Oversee collection and recording of all data from survey and community input Analyze and write the final summary of survey results and engagement activities to be published, distributed and discussed with City of Austin, Colony Park Neighborhood Association, residents, project design team and stakeholders.
Other related functions as assigned.
Must have received PhD within the last three years in urban, community or economic development or relevant field. Experience in qualitiative and quantitative research methods. Experience with census tracts data, demographics and survey design, construction and analysis. Experience with low income, underserved and diverse communitites, i.e. underserved populations, at-risk youths, African American and Latinos in economically depressed environments. Demonstrated excellent organization, written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
Extensive experience working with diverse communities, communitites in poverty, low educational achievement and low income audiences.
