This position will support capacity building and community transformation goals of Colony Park/Lakeside area residents and stakeholders. This position will represent UT in collaborating with the City of Austin and Colony Park Neighborhood Association on community forums, publications, and presentations.

Essential Functions

Oversee outreach and public engagement within the City of Austin HUD grant designated geographic area to involve and engage residents and stakeholders in the planning process. Create and implement orientation and training for students hired for survey work in the Colony Park/Lakeside area. Work with Colony Park Neighborhood Association, surrounding neighborhoods and City of Austin representatives. Assist with writing of final survey and engagement activities results report. Attend all necessary meetings with designated City of Austin staff, Colony Park Neighborhood Association, project design team, residents and stakeholders to discuss project status, progress and activities. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Service Learning, assist with logistics of service learning students engaged in Colony Park project. Coordinate meetings with area stakeholders to receive input and report back on findings from the survey instrument. Work collaboratively with City of Austin and Colony Park Neighborhood Association, representing the University of Texas, Division of Diversity and Community Engagement in the creation of content for media and communications. Coordinate public engagement activities with consultant design team responsible for writing the master design plan.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in relevant field. Five years coordinating or administering a program. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with low income and diverse communities, i.e. underserved populations, at-risk youth, African American and Latinos in economically depressed environments. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Fluent in Spanish, 3 years experience working with community interests, low income and diverse audiences i.e. underserved populations, at-risk youth, African American and Latinos in economically depressed environments.
