To provide responsible administrative support for legal office pursuing debts (primarily medical) owed to and causes of action held by the University of Texas System and its institutions.
Review files to determine initial and next actions. Prepare lien documents, legal correspondence, pleadings. Respond to verbal and written inquiries from attorneys and others. Communicate with client institutions. Document case histories in the database.
Other related functions as assigned.
High school graduation or GED equivalent with three years of administrative experience. One year of college (30 semester hours) may be substituted for one year of the required experience on a year-for-year basis, allowing up to a maximum of 2 years substituted experience. Requires skill in using Microsoft Word for Windows, basic knowledge of database applications and operations and general knowledge of Internet. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree. Prior experience, preferably two years, as a legal secretary or in a position with similar administrative responsibilities.Excellent organizational skills required with ability to handle variety of tasks and a large caseload.
