Additional Information

Purpose

To provide technical/operational support to Multi-media section; to advise, maintain, operate, repair and/or install sound, A/V, recording, and presentation systems, and special events equipment.

Essential Functions

Provides sound reinforcement and operates AV equipment for events. Installs electronic and presentation equipment. Inspects installations. Comments on proposed installations. Provides evaluation, maintenance, support of presentation facilities. Programs presentation systems and DSPs. Sets up and/or operates multi-media teaching aids and other equipment for use in the educational environment. Diagnoses and resolves media systems and other electronic/electromechanical equipment problems. Troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves recurring and intermittent problems by using hardware, schematics, diagnosis software. Designs and integrates multi-media equipment and electronic systems for presentation and event use in diverse settings. Diagnoses and resolves media systems and other electronic/electromechanical equipment problems. Leads the work of other media support technicians. Under general supervision, provides university personnel with technical assistance, support, advice, and orientation on media and other electronic equipment operation.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

High School Graduation or a G.E.D. Knowledge of design techniques and principals involved in the application and interpretation of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings. Knowledge of current commercial construction techniques and procedures as they pertain to this field. Experience working with a broad range of media and electronic equipment. Experience troubleshooting media and electronic problems. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining at least two classes of the following equipment: audio, video, projection, recording, and radio. Experience with a variety of brands of equipment. Demonstrated ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of faculty, staff and students. Effective customer service and communication skills. Advanced problem solving skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of video camera operation, knowledge of intercom installation, experience with Extron, Crestron, Mediamatrix or Bi-Amp programming or set up; installation of RF mike systems. Experience with ETC lighting systems. Live-sound reinforcement experience. Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use SmaartLive or other acoustic evaluation programs. Completion of a technical course in electronics theory or troubleshooting. Experience in all phases of installing audio and/or video equipment, including: pulling and terminating control and audio cables; mounting projection and sound equipment; wiring audio and video patch bays; configuring and wiring remote control systems; and interconnecting installed equipment. Experience giving and following detailed telephoned instructions. Experience with Macintosh computers. Experience with a TDR and an impedance bridge and waveform monitor. Experience with audio and video production software.
