Responsible for managing a team of operators and technicians responsible for UDC operations across the off shifts. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of the data center.
Manage and direct a team of data center operators and technicians. Develop and implement new processes and procedures. Communicate, train, mentor staff. Capable of recruiting, hiring and counseling staff. During emergency situations, act as an incident leader. Provide ongoing technical and leadership expertise in supporting data centers, including growth and scalability requirements. Capable of representing the department in a professional and knowledgeable manner. Able to serve as a data center liaison with management, applications, systems, network, user services, and other department customers. Develop future data center initiatives in order to meet needs for reliable data center operations. Able to develop and enhance data center documentation and process, including emergency response and physical security management. Assist in the development and administration of environmental, health, safety and security programs. Establish standards and procedures for data center operations. Ability to deliver results in a high-energy, high-pressure environment. Multitasking and prioritization of many projects, issues, and tasks. Provide reports and presentations on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Must be a self-starter and have excellent communications and decision-making skills, both verbal and written.

Advanced knowledge of data center operations typically evidenced with a Bachelor's degree in a related field or any combination of work experience training equivalent to seven years of experience providing support to data center operations, call center, or network operations center. Proven ability to coordinate data center units demonstrated with at least five (5) years of first line management experience. Demonstrated natural leader who can motivate and encourage advancement. Understanding of data center operations. Data center processes experience including change management, daily operations, and emergency outage management processes. Ability to work in fast paced and hectic environment, prioritizes tasks effectively, and works seamlessly across organizational boundaries. Previous vendor negotiation and management skills for data center. Demonstrated excellent project management skills. Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with personnel that perform maintenance or upgrade work on computer and or facility systems. Advanced knowledge of MS-Office Suite of products Windows 2000 or later, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Computer Science, Business, or Technical Degree. Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: networking concepts, protocols and cabling; electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations. Ability and willingness to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with a minimal impact on reliability. Demonstrated knowledge of at least one operating platform: Windows, Unix or Mainframe. Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: system administration of Windows, Unix and or mainframe platforms; experience with scripting and or programming languages. Certification in SANS, GIAC and or CISSP.
