To provide specialized non-professional library skills at the Research Assistance Desk in Access Services in the J. Conrad Dunagan Library.
Responsible for providing reference/research assistance to all patrons (faculty, students, staff, the community) in all subject areas utilizing print and electronic resources. Using the Online Public Access Catalog and the internet, helps patrons search for and locate materials. Duties may include supervision of student assistants, stack maintenance, shelving, shelf-reading, collection and reporting of statistics Additional duties include helping patrons to use printers, microform scanners, copiers, as well as, maintenance for the same. Duties will include explaining and enforcing standard academic library rules and procedures. Works in a service-oriented environment in continual contact with the public.
Other related functions as assigned.
High school graduation and high level clerical/administrative assistant work experience. Computer; photocopier; microform scanner; printer; telephone. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
60+ hours college credit. Working in a library or academic environment.
