Purpose

Provide oversight and management of the Blanton Museum of Art's website, social media channels and related digital assets; ensuring content is current, accurate, relevant to key audiences and effective in communicating the Blanton's mission, brand and communications objectives.

Essential Functions

Update, via Expression Engine, website content as needed and as requested by departments across the museum. Ensure content meets state and University of Texas accessibility requirements and complies with standards and security. Work with museum staff to develop video, audio and other digital projects for the website. Manage micro-sites, mobile and third party applications. Manage the Blanton's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr, Pinterest and other social channels to increase engagement, support and build brand awareness. Work across departments to develop appropriate content that is relevant to organizational goals and consistent across networks. Manage online discussions by listening to users, reading between the lines and responding in a timely manner to users needs and requests. Monitor and track discussion topics for management team. Prepare reports to update internal staff on usage statistics. Generate and analyze web reports to provide recommendations to optimize the Blanton's interactive strategy. Oversee the museum's blog, working with colleagues across departments to develop content that complements and reinforces messaging strategies of other museum outlets. Prepare, via MailChimp, monthly e-newsletters to send to the Blanton's subscriber lists. Participate as a member of the PR and Marketing team and assists in marketing initiatives as needed. Provide status updates in meetings. Attend museum events and represent the museum at community functions as needed.

Required qualifications

At least 60 Undergraduate Semester Hours towards a degree in communications, art history or related field. Two years experience using social media platforms to promote a brand. Proficient in content management systems and image editing software. Problem solver and up-to-date on latest web technologies and winning web marketing tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially writing for the web and e-comunications. Should have the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively. Must be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with a high level of creativity and self-direction. Innovative thinker with strong technical competence, who can successfully integrate the Blanton's traditional advertising and messaging strategies within new media in creative and thought-provoking ways. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of experience using social media platforms to promote a brand. Knowledge of Expression Engine. Knowledge of HTML and CSS. Experience with JavaScript or other web coding languages.
