Additional Information

Purpose

Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for soliciting, securing and stewarding major gifts to benefit KUT and KUTX. Seek strategic collaborations in support of KUT and KUTX content and special project initiatives. The Associate Director for Development is an integral part of KUT's major giving program.

Essential Functions

Identify and strategically cultivate and solicit donors and prospects. Manage dedicated portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation major gift prospects and donors. Ask for gifts personally or as part of a team. Approximately 50 percent or more time will be spent visiting with current donors and prospects and cultivating them in-person. Responsible for major gift individual donor strategies, including planned gifts. Lead, plan and participate in major donor events locally, regionally and nationally as needed. Supervise administrative support, volunteers, and contractors as needed. With KUT Director and Director of Marketing and Development, participate in and produce case development for initiative funding and to set fundraising goals and objectives. Participate in Strategic Planning process for KUT and KUTX. Provide regular reports on prospect management and fund raising results to KUT management. Maintain appropriate electronic documentation on a timely basis, including proposal tracking and contact reports. Develop timely reports, letters, proposals or gift agreements following donor contact. Work with other university development professionals and the University Development Office to coordinate development activities and projects in complete accordance with university development policies. Collaborate with UT development professionals to maintain collegial working relationships. Participate in appropriate University development meetings and events.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. A minimum of 5 years in major gift fundraising with 10 years overall experience in prospect management, donor cultivation and solicitation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-oriented unit. Previous experience working directly with donors and volunteers. Strong understanding of major donor cultivation and protocol. Experience researching, writing, and presenting comprehensive fundraising proposals to prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and effectively manage details of several concurrent projects. Strong interest in public broadcasting and its case for support. Proven track record of successfully meeting revenue targets through both prospecting new and upgrading existing accounts. Superior interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated strong computer skills. Excellent professional demeanor. Willingness to embrace the organization's priorities and style. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Public broadcasting fundraising experience preferred. Allegiance donor database experience a plus. Experience in soliciting gifts within the range of 5K-100K preferred. Experience promoting or securing planned gifts. Working knowledge of UT Austin's structure, policies and procedures and VIP database. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments when accomplishing fundraising goals.
