Position will require working many weekends and some evenings for programming and events.
Provide skilled maintenance of the grounds, gardens, equipment and buildings of Winedale as well as perform a variety of tasks in one or more craft areas.
Maintain lawns, shrubbery, trees and flower beds by planting, cultivating, fertilizing, weeding, and watering. Cultivate and maintain gardens beds and potted plants. Cut grass using a tractor, riding or hand mower and weed eater. Mulch flowerbeds and water grounds. Watch for insects, pests, disease, or other deteriorating agents and take necessary steps for their eradication, including application of pesticides. Perform construction, maintenance repair, carpentry, and alteration of various types of facilities, buildings, restrooms, fences and other structures. Additional maintenance as needed such as painting, scraping, sanding, caulking, and, priming of interior and exterior buildings. Deliver and move furniture, equipment and materials. Refinish and-or repair damaged furniture. Physical setup and clean up for frequent special programs and events including table and chair set up, bagging ice, prepping staging areas, collecting and removing trash from grounds and other set up-clean up duties assigned. Will be required to work many weekend days for events. Provide preventive maintenance and-or complete minor repairs on motor vehicles, garden and grounds equipment, building maintenance equipment, and tools. Maintain proper operation of plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and smoke detectors of facilities. Replace AC filters and other items needed on regular routine. Collect and remove trash from grounds. Assist in cleaning and housekeeping duties in historic conference buildings, dormitory, office, and food service units. Change bed linens, replace towel sets, meet with linen supply service for dormitory. Clean restrooms, replenish supplies in Meadows, Dorm, Visitor's Center, Theatre Barn restrooms maintaining a work flow that meets the needs of the activities for the week.
Other related functions as assigned.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
High school graduation or GED. Two years of experience in performing installation, operation, construction, maintenance and-or repair work in a field related to the work to be performed. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience directly related to essential functions listed. Experience providing general maintenance to historical structures, buildings and equipment. Experience in grounds care and maintenance. Experience operating a tractor with a front loader, using commercial lawn care equipment and pesticides. Demonstrated ability to excel, to be highly motivated, to exercise initiative and willingness to put forth an extra effort getting a task accomplished. Demonstrated ability to be supervised and to be flexible with working assignments and environments.
