To apply and develop service administration best practices with a focus on the Linux, Apache, MySQL, PhP (LAMP) stack in the UT Web Hosting environment.

Essential Functions

Service Administration of web systems/applications running Apache Tomcat. Service Administration for integrated environment utilizing a shared infrastructure including storage, databases, virtualization, networking, load balancing. Administration of Self provisioning web tools such as Virtualmin, cPanel, or Plesk. Designs and implements solutions to problems of diverse scope in multiple areas, including data analysis to identify root cause and contributing factors. Architect and Design enterprise solutions including Saas or Cloud services focused on Linux Based systems. Provides mentoring to fellow staff members. Write documentation for a technical audience describing problem, solution, and work efforts in various scenarios.

Required qualifications

Demonstrated three years of experience with managing web systems/applications running LAMP/ Apache Tomcat. Three or more years of professional systems administration experience focused on Linux servers. Experience designing, building, and implementing enterprise level mission critical services built on an integrated environment including storage, relational databases, virtualization, networking, load balancing. Demonstrated experience evaluating and implementing cloud services. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing disaster recovery for multitiered web hosting environments. Proven ability to independently troubleshoot Linux, web server software, and web application problems. Experience implementing and supporting self-provisioning interface tools such as Virtualmin, cPanel, or Plesk. Experience writing and presenting documentation for a technical audience describing problem, solution, and work efforts in various scenarios. Excellent customer focus and interpersonal skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of professional experience in Windows Server system integration and administration. More than three years working within virtualized environments, particularly VMWare. In-depth experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, automated incident response systems, change management processes, network management, information security, and distributed computing environments. Experience with establishing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements. Experience customizing commercial and open source applications. Experience with managing and extending Microsoft Windows File Servers, Active Directory, messaging services (e.g., Exchange Server/Online), and collaborative software/services (e.g., SharePoint, Xythos Digital Locker, Experience with the UT Austin information technology environment (i.e. architecture, infrastructure, organizations).
