General Notes

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday 9am-6pm. Schedule will vary based on needs of KUTX/KUT. Position will require evening, weekend, and holiday work. Work hours may vary and will be set based on the schedule of live events.

Responsible for oversight of KUTX Concert Club (CC) including acting as liaison between programming and development/membership departments. Plans and produces KUTX Map Jam event and assists in other KUTX events and promotions. Oversees content maintenance of Austin Music Map.

Essential Functions

Manages KUTX Concert Club. Works with KUTX Booker insures weekly (1-3) 1A performances are open to KUTX Concert Club Members. Works with KUT Development Staff to manage weekly CC email, track member attendance and eligibility, and to ID additional opportunities and added value offers for CC members. Manages attendee list from Thundertix including cancellations, wait-list, and sold-out messages. Recruits and manages KUTX CC volunteers at events in collaboration with KUT Volunteer Coordinator. Responsible for planning and producing live music event KUTX Map Jam. Participates in planning other live KUTX music events at ACL, SXSW, Fun Fun Fest, and others as needed. Plans and produces KUTX Map Jam event. Includes booking venues and bands, lining up volunteers and support staff, coordinating on-air promotion and social media with KUTX Program Director (PD), and working within budget as established by KUTX PD. Participates in planning and production of all KUTX Live music events surrounding ACL, SXSW, Fun Fun Fest and other events as directed by KUTX PD. Serves as spokesperson for KUTX Map Jam. Develops process for ongoing feedback and engagement with audience and community partners. Oversees continuation of the Austin Music Map as well as production of My KUTX. Handles other assigned production duties. Plans and oversees production of new episodes of My KUTX, including contacting new artist participants, actual production, and handling social media for the one-hour weekly program. With assistance from web staff oversees Austin Music Map website. Solicits and monitors submissions, handles promotion, and social media outreach. Performs as substitute on-air host for KUTX. Applies techniques and adapts presentation as on-air host as directed by PD. Handles additional production tasks (editing, promos, etc.) in a timely and professional manner as assigned. Attends all required KUTX programming meetings and provides positive input to the process. Participates in station events, university service, and on-air fundraising efforts as needed. Deliberately builds and maintains cross-functional collaborations with other KUT/X departments/staff and vendor/partners in support of achieving KUT/X's public service commitment. Maintains productive relationships at work by frequently communication with partners, providing status updates, and addressing issues. Gathers other people's input for significant decisions and projects. Is viewed by peers and supervisors as an available and helpful resource and partner.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree. A combination of five years of experience in radio production or television production. Two years public radio music experience. Intimate knowledge of Austin and Texas Music scenes. Experience working with websites and social media in a promotional manner. Experience producing music related pieces/programs for radio. Two years experience with production software tools Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Final Cut X. Experience writing and producing e-mail newsletter communications. Experience with event production. Experience managing volunteers. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years experience working with websites and social media in a promotional manner. Experience as live on air music host. Two years experience producing music related pieces/programs for radio. Four years public radio music experience. Experience with Convio e-mail newsletter software. Music fesitval event production experience.
