Hours will vary depending on clinic needs (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm PRN); rotating after-hours night triage. Weekend and holiday coverage as needed. Schedule will be discussed at interview. To assist with the assessment, evaluation, and management of patients who present for health care at University Health Services (UHS) and to perform nursing skills in the care and treatment of patients.
Performs nursing assessment of patients, both in person and via telephone, in accordance with established triage protocols, and implements proper course of action. Provides professional, safe and effective care-related advise to patients. Provides effective suppport 24/7 Nurse triage/advice line, by working rotating shifts. Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers. Exhibits exceptional customer service, professionalism and team work in all aspects of work. Maintains a level of knowledge conducive to providing high quality patient care. Maintains patient electronic health records.

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. One year experience as a Registered Nurse in an ambulatory care setting. One year experience performing patient assessments and counseling using telephone triage protocols. Experience with and a moderate comfort level using a personal computer. CPR certification within 90 days of hire. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Three or more years experience as a Registered Nurse. More than one year experience in an outpatient or urgent care clinic, emergency room or college health setting. More than one year experience performing patient assessments and counseling using telephone triage protocols. Experience using electronic medical records. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills, and professional demeanor.
