Purpose

This position is responsible for building, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems and software to support Networking and Telecommunications services.

Essential Functions

Administer Linux servers to provide installation and maintenance of the operating system, physical hardware, and commonly used services (e.g. SSH, sendmail, iptables, web and databases servers). Diagnose and resolve issues related to enterprise-class management software for building access control (Picture Perfect). Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for mission critical services.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Three or more years of current or recent professional experience in Linux server administration. There or more years of professional experience in supporting web and database servers on unix platforms. Possess a broad knowledge of network fundamentals, such as TCP/IP, OSI layers, IP addresses and subnets, network firewalls and proxies. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in programming and/or scripting languages, including UNIX shells, Python and Perl. Strong knowledge of SQL. Experience administering virtualized server environments using VMware ESXE. Experience with system monitoring, performance turning, network security and change management processes. Experience working with building access control and video surveillance applications.
