To provide specialized skills necessary to prepare and assure the high quality and appearance of a wide variety of food for employees and visiting groups at the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas.

Essential Functions

Cook and supervise operation of food service, including supervision of activities of hourly food service employees. Work with planning menus for staff, including meals for VIP meetings and visiting groups. Manage preparation and presentation of food. Purchase supplies and maintain relationship with vendors. Maintain food service facility and equipment, clean, and wash dishes. Develop and enforce safety procedures and train employees in food service safety.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

One year of experience as a cook in a large commercial or institutional facility. Must have a current Food Handler Permit. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer two or more years as a cook in a school cafeteria environment. Prefer experience managing all aspects of a kitchen and preparing meals.
