Provides edge networking support services to the University of Texas at Austin.
Collaboratively plans, designs, implements, and maintains the university network with initiative and limited supervision. Assists with establishing and reviewing network architecture, standards, and best practices for network design and implementation. Provides escalation support for complex network designs and troubleshooting to team members and to department Technical Support Coordinators. Tests and troubleshoots network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Anticipate changes and issues with existing network services and proactively implement solutions before they impact services. Presents technical briefings. Participates in the formulation and implementation of installation standards and procedures. Attends professional conferences and seminars. Identifies and defines needs of network management tools and design and implement systems accordingly. Leads long term network architecture planning for specific network services.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Enterprise network operations experience. A minimum of three years of full-time experience with medium to large scale enterprise networks including wireless deployments. Experience with Cisco Systems switches and routers (Cisco IOS). Experience with TCP/IP, routing/switching concepts, and common routing protocols. Bachelor's degree in a related field. A combination of five years of experience with large scale, enterprise networks (switches/routers) including large wireless deployments. Demonstrated experience in: data center network architecture and best practices (1 year); customer support and service (3 yrs); Cisco routing, switching and wireless products (3+ yrs); VoIP implementation and deployment (2 yrs), 802.11 wireless networking equipment and monitoring (2 yrs); DNS and DHCP administration (2 yrs); open source network management tools and network management tool development (2 yrs); software development (1 yrs); and Microsoft/Apple/Linux (2 yrs).
