Additional Information


Member of the ITS Applications Contracts Team who supports the UT-Austin community in software development projects by providing technical solutions for departments and colleges. Performs systems analysis, design, and development of predominately web-based and database-driven applications.

Essential Functions

Gather requirements, document business processes, perform appropriate system analysis and document project plans and tasks. Design, develop, test, and deploy solutions to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and meet business needs. Integrate and configure software packages, including custom coding between software packages. Provide support for solutions, including maintenance, updates, and small enhancements as required. Generate documentation and publications or delivers talks relevant to job function for use by a technical or functional community. Enhance technical skills with respect to content management systems, applications, and database analysis, design, and integration. Provide consistently excellent customer service to all customers.

Required qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Skilled at training technical staff. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team oriented environment. Three years of systems design, analysis and programming or developing Web-based applications, including experience developing sites in or providing support for customers using a Content Management System (e.g., Drupal, Wordpress). Expertise with scripting languages such as Perl and PHP and a least one of the following: Python, Java, Apache. Experience in the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Python or PHP) environment. Demonstrated ability to perform complex systems analysis and programming tasks requiring advanced techniques. Demonstrated initiative, recognizing what needs to be done and responding in an effective and timely manner. Demonstration of consistently meeting deadlines and following through with projects and assignments to completion. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and creative when presented with challenges Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience with Natural and webagent. Over three years demonstrated experience with MySQL with the ability to write SQL queries. Professional experience in a higher-education environment.
