Variable 40-hour schedule to be determined with supervisor, occasionally will work early mornings or late evenings, potentially 3 - 4 times per month and some overtime, weekends and holidays possible. To meet aggressive energy/water/resource conservation goals in a large group of campus buildings through a technical understanding of building resource consumption/conservation and a behavior-based approach to engage building occupants in conservation.
Engage and educate building occupants on a daily basis to achieve new behaviors that result in conservation. Routinely audit and walk buildings to understand how resources are measured and consumed. Coordinate with building operations, maintenance operations, engineering, and utilities staff to identify and resolve resource conservation issues and implement building schedules and other conservation measures. Perform basic calculations to determine resource consumption, savings, and life cycle cost analysis of conservation measures. Assist in the development of campus wide conservation initatives. Organize and hold building events, such as building open house or orientation, to engage building occupants and promote the Energy and Resource Conservation program. Work collaboratively with academic, athletic, auxiliary, student and administrative organizations to further building- or department-specific conservation programs and develop building operation schedules and other sustainable building operations. Perform analysis and provide management level reports as required.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

High school graduation or GED. Eight years experience in energy/water/resource conservation or building operations. Degree(s) in related field may be substituted for experience. Exceptional customer service skills, outgoing, and a master communicator. Demonstrated ability to maintain composure, positivity, and persistence in stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituents and workforce. Exceptional presentation skills. Strong computer skills, with specific knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Degree(s) or trade school certificates in engineering, environmental science, engineering technology or other related field. More than eight years experience in energy/water/resource conservation or building operations. At least two years using behavior-based training techniques to successfully engage people to commit to behavior changes that result in conservation. At least two years performing resource audits. Laboratory experience. Experience at The University of Texas at Austin or other higher education. Experience in large-scale or higher education buildings. Experience organizing and holding events. Experience performing energy and resource calculations. Registered Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or attend training, pass testing and receive CEM certification within two (2) years of hire date. LEED Green Associate or equivalent or certification within first 24 months of employment. Successful completion of the Campus Planning and Facilities Management Leader Development program.
