Additional Information

Purpose

To work collaboratively with the University of Texas Libraries staff to provide a first in class set of web applications.

Essential Functions

Manage and maintain the University of Texas Libraries web site and related web sites by providing web development, web author support and site management services. Provide coding for the web interface of applications being developed for library web servers and provide templates assistance when necessary. Collaborate and consult with library staff to identify project needs. Evaluate new technologies and web applications, and assist in assuring that library web sites adhere to international, national, state and campus standards.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Graphic Art, or related field. Two to three years of professional webmaster or web maintenance experience. One year of systems design, analysis and programming or developing web based applications. Expertise with HTML, CSS, and a scripting language such as PHP or Python. Experience working with the Drupal content management system. Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards. Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and knowledge of technology trends in libraries or education. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Graphic Art, or related field. More than three years of professional webmaster or web maintenance experience. Experience using a content management system to maintain an academic library web site or similarly complex institution. Academic or research library work experience. Evidence of initiative, creativity and resourcefulness. Experience related to the job functions listed. Experience creating or enforcing a style guide(navigation, style, tone, web-appropriate content). Experience developing interface for mobile focused applications and responsive design. Ability to work on several overlapping projects simultaneously. Work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and accept supervision. Potential for leadership in university, state, national, and international programs and initiatives. Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills. Initiative, creative energy and resourcefulness. Experience related to the duties. Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced, evolving technological, team-oriented environment. Flexibility in work assignments.
