Additional Information


To build and maintain websites for the College of Fine Arts in the Drupal content management system. Responsible for implementing the latest Web standards, technologies and trends to build new websites and upgrade current websites while maintaining and improving current sites.

Essential Functions

Builds websites to support the strategic initiatives for institution wide communications. Completes Web development projects from concept development to the production of final product. Ensures that websites are accessible from a variety of different environments and that the websites are responsive to various devices. Ensures compliance with Section 508 laws, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and other applicable legal and University requirements for website usage, security and standards. Assesses standards, technologies and trends, and implements plans for future enhancement of websites. Works with university personnel to ensure consistency of pages and recommends content management techniques, styles and designs. Evaluates and tests sites for accessibility, validity, browser compatibility, usability. Assists the departments in the usability of its websites including "look and feel" and information architecture. Provides excellent customer service to all levels of users and encourages accuracy, timeliness, consistency of standards and navigation across the websites. Troubleshoots daily and repairs bugs and problems. Crop, compress and resize images. Trains users to enter content in Content Management Systems. Provides feedback to designer and makes minor aesthetic decisions for page layout. Keeps current with coding standards and practices, production techniques and software enhancements. Manages special projects as assigned.

Required qualifications

One year experience in a PHP driven enterprise level Content Management System like Drupal. Drupal development and theming experience and familiarity with front end and backend of Web development. Knowledge of responsive Web techniques and media queries. Ability to comply with Section 508 legal requirements using standards compliant and valid HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Expertise in a programming language such as PHP. Use of validation and optimization tools. Experience with data services integration, such as XML, and revision control, such as SVN. Experience in a variety of development software and image editing programs. Strong creative and visual skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a service oriented attitude. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with rigid deadlines and time limitations. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

High school graduation or GED plus one year of Web development with the Drupal CMS or three years with an alternate enterprise level CMS experience. Experience upgrading Drupal or migrating to Drupal from another framework. More than three years of professional Web development experience. Related experience in higher education. Experience publishing accessible video and audio files for the Web and mastery of the command line. Experience in Web graphics techniques, color and page layout. Knowledge of SQL, MSSQL, Apache server, Drupal module development, MAMP, Photoshop, search engine optimization, Google analytics analysis and social media.
