To supervise a team of voice, data or building security technicians who install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain telephone, data communications or building security equipment.
Supervise installation, operation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications work and assist with work as needed. Review and inspect completed work order and trouble ticket jobs. Assign work to technicians; explain work assignments and cross-train on equipment. Estimate time and material required for a job and initiate requisitions for supplies and equipment. Examine and approve operations log sheets, work orders, tickets and time records. Develop performance plans, training and prioritize tasks to all staff supervised. Meet with customers, other Networking and Telecommunications departments and Central Business Office as needed for planning, including joint projects, to insure due dates and high levels of service and satisfaction are met. Maintain safe work environment and upkeep university property including vehicles. Other duties as required including ensuring supervisor is kept informed.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

High school graduation or GED. Five years of journey level experience in commercial telephone and network system installation. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership position for three to five years in the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems. Supervisory experience must include skills in performance management and familiarity with documenting team performance evaluations. Three to five years technical experience with telecommunications, electronics, AC/DC theory, Outside Plant, single line (analog) telephones, multi-line telephones, voice over IP (VoIP) telephones, key systems, PBX and special circuits. Three to five years experience estimating work and coordinating telecom deliverables for construction projects. Background in scheduling work force, customer service issue resolution and work order processing systems. Two to three years experience training subordinates in telecommunications field. Valid driver's license. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Associates degree or higher in area of specialty. Technical training certification or education in the telecommunication and networking field. More than five years experience in repair and maintenance of telecommunications systems using telecommunications test equipment. More than five years of supervisory experience. Three years experience with network protocols and configuration. Two years experience with telecom related construction inspection work, including the ability to read construction drawings and related schedules.Experience with building security systems.
