Development and implementation of geospatial algorithms for a variety of remote sensing technologies and applications and contribution to the Geospatial Applications and Measurements group research task and objectives in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory.

Essential Functions

Employ computational solutions for remote sensing data production, evaluation and application. Participate in field tests that support data acquisition for geospatial research and/or instrumentation calibration and validation. Document results and engage with the remote sensing community.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer or information science, geoscience or other applied sciences. Demonstrated ability with algorithm development for remote sensing data product processing, analysis and applications. Proficiency in Matlab, C/C++, Python and Unix shell scripting. Must be willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, innovative and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. Demonstrated ability with 3D data visualization (OpenGL) and graphic user interfaces (QT 5.0+). Attention to detail and strong analytical/problem solving skills. Ability for work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced coursework or significant experience related to remote sensing techniques and applications. Familiarity with sensor technologies and data products derived from lidar, radar, multi-spectral or optical imagery. Knowledge associated with point cloud processing techniques, registration, geolocation, validation and higher level geospatial data product generation. Prior experience in geospatial application solutions using novel algorithm techniques and working knowledge of processing, exploitation and dissemination workflows for airborne and space-based remote sensing data product production, particularly for lidar. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills. History of publication in relevant journals and/or industry conferences. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a 3.5 in major coursework or higher.
