General Notes

This is a full-time, temporary position ending 09/30/17 with the possibility of continued employment depending on business need and continuation of funding. Finalists will be asked to provide a writing sample in the style of a policy brief, analytic research paper, or journal article and take a Stata exercise.

Additional Information


To provide research for the Child and Family Research Partnership (CFRP) with primary focus on in-depth writing and data analysis. Conduct research under the direction of Associate Professor/CFRP Director at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Essential Functions

To produce in-depth written content in a wide variety of formats, including journal articles, formal reports, research briefs, and blogs for an academic, policy, and public audience. Ability to conceptualize and outline story arcs, organize statistical findings into a coherent narrative, and understand and translate complex statistical concepts to a lay audience. Be able to produce tables, charts, and graphs to assist in data analysis, understand the CFRP data sets and public data sets relevant to CFRP research, and demonstrate the ability to conduct analyses in Stata to support the research projects. Communicate and interact with sponsor/client and stakeholders as needed. Work with team to manage data analysis, evaluations, and surveys to support research. Project manager for assigned projects, with duties including maintaining deliverables schedule, coordinating stakeholder contacts and events, and other administrative activities. Provide guidance for student research assistants, if applicable. Serve as an active team member in planning, development, and revision of scopes of work. Provide additional research and data analysis support as needed.

Required qualifications

Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Strict attention to detail, independent, and proactive. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent time management skills to meet stringent deadlines. Strong methodological and analytical skills. Proficient skills using STATA and SAS. Master's degree with major coursework in the field of assignment, plus two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D with major coursework in the field of assignment, plus two to three years of related experience. Advanced Stata, SAS, and methodological skills.
