This position will be responsible for managing the Web and Mobile Applications group and leading the development of one or more web application projects in the Advanced Computing Interfaces area of the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC).

Essential Functions

Manage a team of software developers; Act as technical lead on a set of web development projects; Participate in meetings with stakeholders to gather and formalize requirements; Evaluate technologies for applicability; Architect and develop technical solutions for projects; Develop high quality, test-covered code; Assign and evaluate execution of tasks of team members; Promote projects to the community through participation and collaboration in workshops, presentations, and conferences; Orchestrate group and project meetings; Mentor junior developers.

Required qualifications

An advanced degree in computer science or similar field of study; Demonstrated experience managing a team of software developers; Expert in full stack web development; Experience with modern dev-ops procedures; Experience with a broad set of web development technologies and frameworks including Python, Django, Javascript, Java, Angular.js, Portlet Containers; Experience producing and consuming RESTful web services; Experience with relational and non-relational databases; Understanding of iOS and Android mobile app development; Ability to learn new technologies quickly; Experience with software testing frameworks; Excellent communication skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in computer science or similar field of study; Experience with high performance computing; Experience working with distributed systems; Experience with task queues such as Celery; Experience writing publications, conference presentations, and contributing to proposals.
