Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice, text, and data plans to be used when required for work. Must maintain a mode of transportation that can get you to campus within one hour when on-call. This position will have 24x7 on-call responsibilities.

This position will work with the Core Networking team's network architects, senior engineers, and management to design, implement, and operate solutions for integrating local and cloud services into the University's network.

Essential Functions

Establish network architectures, standards, and best practices for designing, implementing, and integrating networks for the University's network to local and cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS). Design and implement management processes for the network and cloud services following the FCAPS model for network management. Represent Networking and provide network engineering expertise to the University community with regards to evaluating services and technologies that use the network for communications. Identify, research, test, integrate, document, train, and implement new network technologies and services. Build, configure, install, and operate network equipment and servers/systems to support network operations for the University, driving when necessary.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

5+ years of current or recent professional experience designing and operating large enterprise networks (routing, switching, firewalls, VPN). 5+ years of experience integrating enterprise networks with cloud service offerings (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS). 5+ years of experience working with data center networks. Experience working with ADCs (Application Delivery Controllers). Experience working with Linux and/or Windows servers. Bachelor's degree. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of current or recent professional experience with large enterprise networks built on Cisco Nexus and Catalyst platforms. 5+ years experience designing, implementing, and operating services on Linux and/or Windows servers in data center environments with ADCs. Experience implementing virtual private cloud networks and integrating them with traditional campus networks and on-premise services. Experience with Amazon Web Services. Experience developing applications using REST APIs for integrating services between different applications and vendors.
