General Notes

Work hours are 7:15am to 4:15pm. This position will be paid an additional monthly stipend of 416 for Journeyman Electrical, Plumbing and Class B HVAC license or monthly stipend of 458 for Master Electrical, Plumbing and Class A HVAC. License must be issued by the State of Texas and maintained in a current status. Candidate selected must provide verification of education and/or experience.

Provide appliance repairs, inspections, and PM of laundry kitchen equipment, appliances, and perform multi-crafted technical trade skills including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC in the performance of work required for maintenance, repair and operations of residential facilities maintenance zone for DHFS.

Essential Functions

1. Standard Appliance Service: Diagnose and repair University owned washers, dryers, and other appliances or kitchen equipment. Perform inspections and preventive maintenance for all laundry equipment. Track laundry machine use and set up schedule to rotate as needed. Ensure all dryer vents are maintained. Maintain all signage and other associated work with student laundries. Assess and evaluate work to determine the correct repairs or installations are performed. 2. Multi Craft Services : Perform electrical , plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting for the installation and repair of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and equipment. 3. Maintenance and Inventory: Analyze computer generated work orders and prioritize repairs. Use troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to perform work, identify systems and equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with other trades as needed. Inspect and evaluate work as needed to meet standards. Charge out all material and account for all inventory used. Responsible for maintaining parts inventory for laundry equipment and appliances. 4. Communication/Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Communicate with supervisor, staff, and residents regarding needed repairs and work order status. Follow through with written and oral instructions from supervisor. 5. Emergency On Call: Required to be on the on-call rotation schedule to respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours and during holidays, carry a UT cell phone, and make emergency repairs 24/7 as needed. 6. Documentation and Safety: Complete and submit paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and ensure to properly report any unsafe condition and injuries. 7. Transportation / Equipment operation: Drive a UT vehicle to work site, transporting equipment and supplies as needed to perform routine and preventive maintenance. 8. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Works as a team member. Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Five years experience in appliance repair maintenance. The 5 years of experience must include three years experience repairing washers and dryers. Two years experience repairing kitchen equipment, refrigerators, other appliances or journey level trades. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Applicant selected must have an acceptable 3 year driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid license throughout employment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than five (5) years of experience repairing washers and dryers. Experience in commercial laundromats. More than two years of experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment, appliance, and refrigerators. More than two years of journey level experience in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Commercial and residential renovation experience, experience in maintenance and repair of apartments or residence halls. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and verbal work related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers.
