Purpose

As a member of the DevOps team you will be required to support and maintain a variety of tools that support the development community on campus. The tool suite includes but is not limited to: Jenkins, GitHub, Jira, CheckMarx, SonarSource, JMeter.

Essential Functions

Adheres to best practices to deploy new technologies and applications with in-depth understanding of the subject matter. Establishes new practices. Ensure assigned services exhibit excellence in availability, security, and failure tolerance to the development community. Respond to service outages in a timely manner focusing on bringing service back on line within the prescribed SLA. Design, develop, and execute automated test for new product releases fixing defects as they are discovered. Adhere to Test Driven Development best practice. Engage the development community to ensure the DevOps product suite is continuously meeting the requirements of the developers. Take feedback and implement improvements as needed in assigned services. Define and lead process improvement efforts across the team, focusing on operational readiness, efficiency and quality.

Required qualifications

At least 5 years of software development experience utilizing industry standard development tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and Jira. Preferred programming experience in an object oriented language such as PHP, Python or Java. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of software development experience. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and debug applications deployed in Windows, Unix, Linux operating environments. Experience using Service Management tools such as ServiceNow or other ticketing tool. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines successfully. Experience leading small technical teams in the successful delivery of IT projects. Strong written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Broad experience working in an ITIL aligned organization, specific knowledge of Problem Management and Change Management.
