Purpose

To provide analysis, development, and refinement of business practices and data management systems and processes to improve division performance.

Essential Functions

Provides primary identification, analysis, and reporting of performance and financial trends and statistics for the division. Develops visualizations, models, presentations, correspondence, forms, and reports to communicate these trends with division staff. Utilizes Structured Query Language (SQL), Tableau, Toad, Access, VBA, Excel, COGNOS, FileMaker, SharePoint, and other data management and business intelligence tools to provide data and data access to users of FAMIS, DEFINE, MARS, VFA, and other information sources. Develops self-service reporting tools to provide direct access to information. Develops and modifies databases or applications to support the division. Works with division groups to understand their functional needs for data capture, management, and analysis. Assists work units with documenting requirements, workflows, rules, and processes. Recommends changes in workflows and practices to maximize effectiveness of work units. Analyzes technical division data management, data quality, and systems integration needs. Advises division staff on implications of findings and options. Makes recommendations on optimal course of action. Delivers technical and functional requirements to Technology Resources (and other IT groups as needed) for application and database development action. Evaluates solutions presented by IT groups, interprets them for division staff, and ensures that solutions implemented meet division needs. Facilitates delivery of help-desk support to users of self-service reporting options, MS Office applications, and other software tools as needed. Researches best practices and current technologies on business intelligence, systems analysis, process improvement tools, and business practices. Represents the division on Facilities Services and Campus Planning and Facilities Management work groups and committees as needed. Serves as subject matter expert on division workflows, processes, policies, and functions to support division interests. Serves as lead on projects and provides training and end-user support.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with training in statistical analysis or equivalent years of experience. Four years experience using SQL, Tableau, Toad, Access, VBA, Excel, COGNOS, FileMaker, SharePoint, and/or other data management and business intelligence tools. Experience developing self-service reporting tools. Experience developing and modifying databases or applications. Experience leading projects related to analysis and refinement of business practices and data management systems. Current Class "C" Operator Driver License required. Prior to date of hire, applicant selected must provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) showing a driving history going back 36 months. This includes all states resided in for the past 36 months. MVR will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a University-owned vehicle. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
