The Senior Director of Clinical Operations leads and directs services, credentialing, competencies, workflow and resources for areas that meet Dell Medical School's clinical and quality requirements.

Essential Functions

Develops departmental goals and objectives consistent with medical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements of the health enterprise. Directly supervises nursing staff and all related activities of the surgical suite according to the policies and objectives. Involved in staffing, quality assurance, infection control and risk management. Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating and continuing education initiatives. Prepares and monitors budget(s) and ensures that assigned nursing area operates within allocated funds. Coordinates and directs internal and externally-driven audits. Manages resources to support quality patient care, service and patient safety. Supports measurement of nursing intensity/patient acuity to allocate resources appropriately. Supports the professional practice operating model. Ensures compliance with standards of practice. Collaborates effectively with organizational stakeholders. Identifies technologies to enhance outcomes. Drives departmental technology implementation and use. Works collaboratively with DMS Facilities to represent operations related to space planning for future clinical areas and institutes. Collaborates on development of nursing, quality measures and operating strategic plans aligning with all overarching strategic plans. Supports horizontal integration of the practice of nursing in alignment with shared governance model, goals and objectives. Ensures use of evidenced based practice and research to guide clinical and managerial decision-making. Supports organizational research and growth within all specialty areas. Ensures development of enterprise-aligned, department specific programs to measure, analyze, and improve nursing care quality.

Required qualifications

Master's level degree in Nursing. Seven (7) years of successful nursing experience is required, to include five (5) years of leadership experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of that leadership experience in departmental management. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; high competence using Microsoft Office programs and project management software; broad understanding of the functional operation of both inpatient and outpatient health care services programs and sensitivity to the operational complexities of the organizational elements of patient care. Ability to monitor a variety of assignments and activities concurrently, the ability to motivate people at various levels in the organization, stamina to be able to work occasional long hours and unusual hours over an extended period of time, and the ability to perform under stress. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in ambulatory care settings, acute care settings, quality management, clinical space planning and procurement.
