Additional Information

Purpose

Implement college-wide system of teaching observation, evaluation and, instructional improvement in the College of Natural Sciences in collaboration with the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES).

Essential Functions

Design and implement a sustainable process of expert evaluation and peer observation for faculty across the College of Natural Sciences. Conduct expert evaluations for faculty at strategic points in their career. Train, consult, and support faculty in new peer observation and evaluation initiatives. Work with departments to create evaluation criteria and tools unique to their particular disciplines and academic goals. Provide consultations to faculty and departments on articulation and analysis of teaching feedback. Develop and present professional development workshops based on key areas of need as evident from teaching evaluations. Contribute to publications related to teaching and learning and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning. Contribute to grant proposals.

Required qualifications

Master's degree in science, math, education, or closely related field. Minimum three years of experience working with evaluation, training, and feedback in higher education; expertise in assessment design and/or classroom evaluation; superior public presentation skills; experience in project management; familiarity with higher education STEM pedagogical theory and innovative teaching strategies; superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to organize workflow, take appropriate initiative, and balance multiple projects; excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration, engender support, and generate buy-in from a variety of stakeholders; must be precise, thorough, and detail-oriented; familiarity with emerging issues in education research and undergraduate science and math education. Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in science or math education research, or related field. Five to eight years of experience with higher education evaluation, training, and feedback; a record of effective design and/or teaching of undergraduate courses or curriculum; evidence of scholarly publication; grant-writing experience; experience designing and conducting evaluation to inform program design and policy making.
