The College of Liberal Arts is seeking dynamic professionals to provide computer desktop support for the largest college at The University of Texas at Austin and other university entities. Weekend, holiday, and overtime hours may be required as work demands.

Purpose

Work within a team to provide professional desktop support for approximately 4,000 computers within the College of Liberal Arts and potentially thousands more across campus; responsibilities include resolving software, hardware and network issues.

Essential Functions

Provide technical assistance to customers and other support specialists for solving software, hardware and network issues across a range of Windows and Mac platforms. Interact and communicate with peers and customers in a professional, client-focused manner while working both in a team setting and independently with limited direction. Maintain and update accurate information efficiently across several systems, including support issues and inventory management. Build, manage and update desktop images while ensuring desktop security in accordance with university and college directives.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned by management.

Required qualifications

Experience supporting desktop computers running Windows, Mac OS or both in a network environment. Ability to work as part of a team and take the initiative to work independently. Ability to maintain and manage information and documentation in an organized, systematic way. Professional experience providing customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

More than two years of experience supporting desktop computers running Windows, Mac OS or both in a network environment. A Bachelor's degree in information technology, information management, or a related field. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills. Experience with image management and deployment. Familiarity with Canvas course management software. Experience with and exposure to a wide variety of commercial and educational productivity applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (both Windows and Mac), Adobe Creative Suite applications, and statistical analysis applications. Experience with support systems and remote desktop technologies. Professional experience working with the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin.
