Serve as a primary career services contact for students in all academic majors in the Career Services Office, College of Natural Sciences.

Essential Functions

Advise and assist students in their career search regarding their qualifications related to career opportunities, employment trends and salary information. Develop action plans for students and coordinate standards to measure attainment of goals and objectives. Plan, coordinate and execute workshops, seminars and virtual experiences for students and employers. Evaluate and implement strategies to increase participation in the programs. Teach effectively and present to large groups. Develop, select, and utilize effective career search materials for students seeking career information. Collect and utilize occupational data and current labor market information. Cooperate in the collection and dissemination of information about employers and employment opportunities to students. Participate in the ongoing development and facilitation of an internship program. Supervise graduate and undergraduate interns. Provide feedback, evaluation and ongoing career development to these interns who provide career and advising services to undergraduate Natural Sciences students. Work with other staff members in the undergraduate division to create and facilitate programs to support experiential learning, career development, and long-term career success following graduation. Establish and maintain effective external and internal communications with employers, faculty and staff for experiential learning and employment opportunities. Work with staff and students to gather and track employment information on students, to include database management, Excel analysis, and salary reports in accordance with NACE standards. Represent the career services programs in on-campus and off-campus meetings and conferences.

Required qualifications

Master's degree and four years experience in a career services, health professions, higher education, natural sciences profession, or a related field. Exceptional resume writing, interviewing and job search skills. Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and excellence in oral and written communication. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Must be able to occasionally travel including overnight travel. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling or related Higher Education program. Demonstrated experience working with natural sciences majors in higher education career services or a relevant natural sciences profession. Experience with corporate recruiting, managing internship and experiential learning programs, and other career-oriented opportunities. Experience managing and mentoring student employees. Academically qualified to teach and capable of researching and developing content, interactive exercises, and applying effective teaching methods for topics in professionalism and career search for credit-bearing courses. Strong data analysis skills in Excel and demonstrated proficiency working with pivot tables.
