The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the director with all project activities. Primarily responsible for the management of the project's student management system (Blumen), coordinates the project's outreach activities, provides direct advising and information on student academic and financial matter

Essential Functions

Provide academic, career and personal counseling to students; Contact faculty/staff to monitor student performance and follow up with students as needed. Coordinate student recruitment, selection and admission of students in to the Longhorn Link Program. Participate in dissemination of project information to potential participants. Collaborate with campus student success partners to facilitate year-around student programming and support. Coordinate events for three day summer orientation for new participants; attend orientation advisors meeting and RA Resource Fair to discuss program services, application process and overall purpose of the LLP program. Provide additional support and advising for incoming students during orientation and registration sessions Manage and maintain Blumen database software for case management and tracking student progress and participation. Manage lending library and laptop programs. Plan and attend Longhorn Link Program events and activities Conduct pre and post assessments and focus groups to recognize the educational needs of program participants; Generate annual and semester GPA, retention, demographic and probationary student information program reports; Assist Tri0 staff in CAS evaluation of overall SSS program and assist with Annual Performance Report and TRAC DAT assessment plan. Attend TriO national/regional/local trainings and conferences which focus on assessment, student development, financial aid and program planning. Participate in faculty and college committee activities. Assist Director in recruiting, hiring and training program staff. Establish operational policies and procedures and make any necessary modifications, based on analysis of operations, demographics, and other research information.

Required qualifications

Masters degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work or other closely related fields. Two years of experience working with low income, first generation and under represented students from disadvantaged backgrounds and two years working with academic support programs. Two years experience supervising part-time or full time staff coordinating program events and workshops. Experience in counseling/advising students and evidence of leadership qualities and experience are necessary. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD preferred A combination of seven years of experience administering or coordinating a program. Significant experience working with and mentoring undergraduate students.

Working conditions
