Additional Information

Purpose

Identification and characterization of human antibody and B-cell repertoires elicited in response to vaccination or infectious diseases using Next Gen Sequencing, high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), and multi-OMICS analysis of Genomics, Transcriptomics and Proteomics data sets.

Essential Functions

Lead, supervise, perform, and troubleshoot multiple research projects. Process and analyze sequencing and proteomic data sets Work with and advise postdoctoral fellows and graduate students within a team environment. Submit grant proposals and secure additional sponsors and sources of funding. Prepare manuscripts and graphic presentations. Attend scientific meetings and conference to disseminate research findings.

Required qualifications

PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, or Molecular Biology. Minimum of five years post PhD experience as an independent investigator (postdoctoral fellow or research associate/fellow). Track record of first author publications in reviewed science journals. Experience with Next Generation Sequencing, or Genomics, Transcriptomics, or Proteomics. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Background in molecular immunology and systems biology. Prior experience working with antibodies (sequence analysis, production, purification, use in assays). Prior experience with high-throughput sequencing (RNA-Seq, Mi-Seq), systems biology using transcriptomic and proteomic analyses, and OMICS techniques involving antibodies and/or mass spectrometry (ChIP-Seq, co-IP-MS). Prior experience using animal models and cell culture models of infection. Background in the immunology of enteropathogens a plus. Preferred technical skill set includes the following: affinity chromatography, fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), fluorescence microscopy, recombinant protein expression and purification, immunoprecipitation, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-RT-PCR), mammalian cell culture, laboratory mouse experimentation.
