Work with the Transportation Assistant Director to oversee the Sure Walk and Sure Ride Program. Responsible for the daily operations by enforcing policies and regulations related to both programs. Create a staff culture of safety, inclusivity and engagement where all staff, volunteers, and riders feel welcome.

Essential Functions

Coordinate hiring of new staff, plan training and monthly staff meetings, overseeing vehicle and equipment use and maintenance, and supervising and supporting staff and volunteers. Manage and support the development of the SURE Walk Student Government Volunteer Coordinators in both nightly operations duties and the completion of position-specific projects. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all SURE Walk and SURE Ride policies and incident response protocols and effectively respond to and report incidents as they occur. Plan and co-facilitate monthly/weekly all staff meetings. Serve as a SURE Walk and Sure Ride representative/advocate at The University of Texas at Austin and community functions. Model professional, academic and personal integrity in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and riders. Intentionally develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff and volunteers. Work with other departments to develop and implement projects that meet rider and/or staff/volunteer needs and align with SURE Walk and SURE Ride initiatives and programmatic/staff learning outcomes. Work with the Transportation Assistant Director on strategic planning efforts, program visioning and budget management. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all SURE Walk and SURE Ride policies and incident response protocols and effectively respond to and report incidents as they occur. Be accessible during evening and weekend hours as agreed upon to respond to incidents and needs of staff during nightly operations. Other duties as agreed upon with the Transportation Assistant Director.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned. Weekend, holiday, and comp time will be required for this position as necessary.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. A combination of 8 yrs experience managing programs, working with a diverse college populations, coordinating and or working in a student affairs capacity, coordinating volunteer programs, and making complex administrative decisions. Minimum 3 yrs of supervisory experience. Must be able to lead and support SURE Walk and SURE Ride employees and volunteers. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accomplish tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to be self-managed and work independently when needed. Must be able to collaborate with other staff to effectively complete projects. Must be able to think critically to manage incidents that arise and to support staff in following appropriate SURE Walk and SURE Ride policies and protocols. Must have a commitment to supporting student safety and success. Must have a valid Texas driver's license. Upon hire, must complete and pass a criminal background check. Professional demeanor. More than eight years of combination relative to program management. More than four years of university operations experience. Demonstrated excellent customer service experience. Experience as a contributing member of a team. Knowledgeable in general student oriented programs. Tact, diplomacy, and judgement in dealing with others. Demonstrated effective inter-personal communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. Experience working with campus and community organizations in a leadership capacity. Experience supervising and supporting employees and volunteers. Experience facilitating meetings, group dialogue, and resolving conflict.
