Security sensitive; Certified 3-Yr Driving Record requested and Criminal Background Check conducted on selected applicant. Hiring decision contingent on clearing checks. May work 4-10, 9-80, or alternate work schedule. Applicant required to successfully complete testing to Lift/Carry 78 lbs, pull 125 lbs, lift 2-45 lbs weights up ladder, kneeling work in confined spaces, and other tasks.

Additional Information

Purpose

To monitor and maintain custodial and bench stock inventory for power plant maintenance shops. To Perform custodial tasks which can be learned readily and do not require training or specialized experience.

Essential Functions

Stocks consumable items necessary for day-to-day operation, maintenance, and housekeeping of power plant systems and equipment. Work with vendors to organize and maintain appropriate stock levels. Maintain records of orders and stocking levels. Maintains tracking and maintenance logs for tools and equipment. Must be proficient in use of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) applications. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Transports items to and from area supply and maintenance shops. Transport items inside the plant and around campus. Operate cranes, personnel lifts, and forklifts. Drive UT vehicle. Maintains acceptable driving record required by UT System Policy UTS157. Empties trash, sweeps, mops, dusts, and cleans power plant and machine room areas, and performs routine custodial duties. Inform appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies in the facilities or equipment. Perform related duties as assigned. Follow all University and Utilities safety policies. Adhere to the rules of the UEM Employee Policy Manual. Assist other personnel with maintenance and cleaning of power plant equipment. Including removing, fabricating, and installing insulation systems in accordance with established specifications. Wear respiratory protection and may work around hazardous materials as required by task. Required to carry University cell phone during work and on call hours.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Perform other related functions as assigned. Attend staff meetings, safety training and meetings. Complete plant operation and maintenance training courses. Completion of training certification expected within 18 months.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. One year of experience as a laborer. Experience performing stores work. Experience in stock handling. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Working experience in an industrial or utility environment. Experience using personal computers. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.
