Additional Information

Purpose

To proofread all TXOC resources to ensure the text is concise, consistent to the editorial style guide, and both grammatically and factually correct.

Essential Functions

Assess and edit content for a wide variety of digital and printed products to ensure each adhere to the TXOC editorial style guide. Work collaboratively with the marketing and communications team to identify and recommend editorial related enhancements to improve all TXOC offerings. Develop proofing and editorial style guide for TXOC middle school offerings including, but not limited to, curriculum guide for middle school educators, family guide for middle school parents and guardians, four-year graduation planning tool, and career exploration game. Create instructional resources including PDFs, infographics, and additional visual learning resources.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Support project team to ensure exceptional project development; attend one-on-one meetings with Assistant Director of Content and Resources, team meetings, and staff professional development trainings; and other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or other relevant field. Minimum of 2 years professional experience working in editorial settings with proven ability to proofread accurately while adhering to product specifications and style guides. Knowledge of grammatical rules of the English language and extensive experience editing content to improve readability for K-12 and adult audiences. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Visual design skills and experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud.
