Purpose

The purpose of this position is the administration, reporting and accounting of the retirement programs offered by the University of Texas at Austin.

Essential Functions

Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of payroll deductions for the various retirement plans. This includes processing monthly updates to employee retirement deductions, monitoring and correcting monthly contribution change files, reviewing payroll exception reports and following up with Human Resource Services and employees to ensure updates are made prior to payroll runs. Provide customer support to employees, retirees, departments, Human Resource Services and various retirement providers related to the retirement programs offered by the university. Complete Teacher Retirement System of Texas reporting monthly, and process related monthly closeout vouchers. Process remittances of retirement contributions after payroll runs within established timeframes. Process monthly closeout entries, prepare submit reporting, and remit payments related to Unemployment Compensation Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance. Create payroll adjustments, as necessary, to maintain accuracy of employee records. Perform various duties and assist with miscellaneous projects supporting the Payroll Services Retirement Team.

Required qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. One to two years of payroll experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently, accurately, with attention to detail and in adherence with deadlines. Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or bachelor's degree. At least three years of professional administrative experience. Experience in payroll, benefits administration, accounting, and/or higher education. Experience performing complex administrative functions.
