Provide financial and budget analysis, reporting, modeling and forecasting to assist the Budget Office, Chief Financial Officer and the University Budget Council in maximizing the university's assets. Provide legislative and state funding analysis to support funding decisions.

Essential Functions

Prepare Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR). Provide analysis of state funding, including formula funding, related to the university's funding. Prepare required reports for various state agencies, including Strategic Fiscal Review and ad hoc requests. Manage fiscal note process for the university. Work with UT Austin and UT System Governmental Relations staff to provide information and support during the legislative session with tracking and analyzing legislative and governmental actions that might affect university funding. Review and analyze budget information prepared by departmental users and assist in the preparation of the University's annual operating budget. Act as initial point of contact to departmental users of the budget system and provide advice and technical assistance for all aspects of budget preparation, policy, analysis, and review. Assist with reporting and budget tasks as needed.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in budget analysis and preparation, payroll, accounting and/or human resources compensation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to research problems and to suggest creative solutions. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with State of Texas funding models, including formula funding for institutions of higher education. Experience with the Legislative Appropriations Request.
