Performs routine technical assistance, management and marketing of the university Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) and Small Business (SB) program.

Essential Functions

Assisting with the planning, developing, and implementation of strategies to facilitate fair and equitable participation of HUB and federal SB concerns in procurement opportunities at the university. This includes compiling and disseminating program information and data; monitoring compliance; producing reports; and acquisitions advocacy activities including in-reach, outreach, and training. Adheres to organization's business practices. Carries out responsibilities that contribute to role of own department within the organization. Exercises independent judgement and authority as required with oversight. Selects the right activities to work on from a range of competing priorities. May represent the program at professional committees, events and organizations. Prepares project budgets and controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations. Reviews current project budgets and prepares projects for future programs.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of clerical experience or High School graduation or GED with seven years of clerical experience. Must be analytical, accurate, and have excellent computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and intermediate skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Each additional year of experience over the required minimum may be substituted for one year of college (30 semester hours) on a year-for-year basis. Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong work ethic, be a team player, be able to work independently, conduct themselves professionally, and work well with others. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in business, accounting, finance, or statistics. Four or more years of experience in accounting, finance or data reporting and analysis. A combination of post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or industrial engineering with experience equal to four or more years is acceptable. Experience organizing and marketing events as a volunteer or employee for a nonprofit, public sector organization, or business.
