Assists in administering stockroom and safety functions in support of research programs at Applied Research Laboratories.

Essential Functions

Routine Stockroom tasks such as printing issue cards and bin labels, restock supplies, relocation of stock items, request stock to be ordered, and the update and utilization of the stockroom database as required. Prepare for, participate in, and reconcile the general stock physical inventory. Pickup supplies and materials from local vendors as needed. Assist with physical inventories of chemicals, supplies, hardware, and related safety items such as first aid kits Maintain records pertaining to storage and disposal of hazardous materials

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience with clerical functions including progressively responsible data entry duties. Demonstrated ability to compose and type correspondence, maintain databases, and prepare reports. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position. Evidence of skills in the following areas: working with new technologies, being highly organized, planning and coordinating multiple tasks, effective time management, attention to detail, effective problem solving skills, using excellent judgment, working independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintaining a professional demeanor, working as a team member without daily supervision, effectively communicating with diverse groups of clients, working under pressure, accepting supervision and demonstrating regular/punctual attendance. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Three or more years of experience purchasing and stocking office products and electrical/electronic/mechanical parts in a stockroom or retail environment. At least two years of demonstrated ability using relational databases (FileMaker Pro, Access, etc.). Some knowledge and experience with safety regulations, safety issues, and hazardous materials. Texas Driver's License.
